Why we're building Escape AI

Escape AI is built by a small team focused on one thing: an AI coding agent that actually respects your workflow — reviewable diffs instead of silent rewrites, real permission prompts before running commands, and context that's genuinely indexed from your project instead of guessed at.

We started from a simple frustration: most AI coding tools ask you to trust a black box. They rewrite files without showing you what changed, run commands without asking, and answer questions about your codebase using guesses instead of an actual index of it. Escape AI is our attempt to build the opposite — an agent that shows its work, asks before it acts, and can point to the actual files it read.

We're still early, and we'd rather be upfront about what's built and what isn't than oversell it. If that approach matches how you want to work, we'd like you to try it.
